About My Bunny and Bear

I am Wei Wei, the person behind “My Bunny and Bear”. I am a mother of two and my brand name represents my daughter and my son. My daughter loves bunnies and wants to be a pilot, therefore the bunny in the logo wears a pilot hat that she used to wear when she’s much younger. My son on the other hand has autism, he is non verbal, hence the bear in the logo does not have a mouth. (Maybe one day, I get to add a mouth, who knows?)

I have always loved art, and regret that I did not take art class seriously back in school. I did not really know what I wanted, I studied engineering and became an engineer. While I did not hate my job, I’ve always tried to find something that gives me more satisfaction and values.

Then came the day I quit my job due to our circumstances. I needed to take care of my son, to be the one who brings him to various medical appointments, therapies, interventions, so I had to quit. Quitting was not fun. I spent all days alone with him, in silence. To keep myself sane, I started to explore my hobbies: photography, writing, lettering, typography, water colouring, doodling... I took free courses on Coursera, Skillshares, and Domestika too.

And around 5 years ago, I explored digital drawing and was hooked ever since. Because that fits perfectly to my lifestyle, it is portable and I get to do it during the pocket of time I have when I’m waiting for my son in his various sessions.

And why t-shirts you may ask? It started with the idea that I wanted to put my daughter’s favourite bunny on her t-shirt.
If it weren't for my son, I wouldn't have quit my job, and if it weren't  for my daughter, I wouldn't have found what I want to do with my digital drawings. The name “My Bunny and Bear” may sound common, but it is the most fitting name to my brand, or rather, our brand.
